True Crime, Mysticism & the Occult on 'Wyrd Realities'

Updated: Jul 25, 2021

Recently I sat down with co-hosts Finley and Morgana of the “Wyrd Realities” Podcast to talk about true crime, the occult, and the unexplainable. Starting and ending with some metaphysics and forteana, the large swath in between has us discussing serial killers as it relates to demonology, both archetypally and—perhaps, in some rare cases—a bit more literally.

This is a great episode for skeptics as well as believers, because while you will have to draw your own conclusions on a case by case basis when it comes to something like a serial killer—the habits, medical ailments, psychology, and even the history of so many serial killers points to the archetypal comparisons of demonic “obsession”, and perhaps even “possession.”

Of course, a supposition like this raises a great deal of questions, of which we take the time to discuss: what about serial killers simply lying? What about the consequences of forfeiting scientific advancement for superstitious words like “demon” and “possession”? What is to stop a conversation like this from turning into a skewed, hysterical witch-hunt? All this and more in our conversation!

Name-drops include: Richard Ramirez, Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, Arthur Shawcross, David Berkowitz, Israel Keyes, John Gayce, Ed Kemper, Herbert Mullen, Joseph Kalinger, and Richard Chase.
